Crafting Connections
Crafting Connections is run by national charity The Together Project. We boost wellbeing, reduce loneliness and foster stronger, happier communities by creating joyful intergenerational experiences.
In lockdown of 2020 we launched Hand In Hand Together. The project saw hundreds of children and older people in care homes create handprint themed pictures – symbolic of reaching out across the terrible divide that COVID-19 had created – and swap them in the post, along with little stories about themselves. The popularity of the project, the numerous requests from people who wanted to stay in touch with their new friends and the feedback from all ages about its incredible impact inspired the creation of Crafting Connections.
Our other work includes Songs & Smiles (intergenerational music groups held in care homes and assisted living schemes) and We Are Friends (linking older people in the community with 0-5 year olds through storytelling projects in local libraries).
